      With a Test career spanning more than twenty years Colin Cowdrey is one of England's finest cricketing sons. From a precocious teenage phenomenon to one of the great sporting statesmen of his time, he was at the heart of the game for half a century: Cowdrey was the first man to play 100 Tests, captained England 27 times and scored almost 43,000 first-class runs – 7,624 of them in Test matches.

      Vintage is delighted to offer this rare willow cricket bat by Slazenger of England. We believe that this wonderful antique cricket bat was made in Harrow, North London. However, Slazenger were known to outsource some of their manufacturing to other specialized cricketing craftsmen such as Warsop of Chelmsford. This mid-20th century antique cricket bat is in excellent condition with a lovely patina and would look wonderful framed or exhibited on a wall or shelf.



      Founded in 1888, Slazenger it is one of England's oldest surviving Cricket and general sports brands. In addition to Denis Compton many famous cricket players such as Don Bradman, Garfield Sobers, Viv Richards and Len Hutton played with Slazenger's bats. Slazenger has a long and distinguished history, which was further enhanced in 1940 with the Company’s acquisition of Ayres (est. 1810) and Sykes (est. 1875). In 1929 Don Bradman signed a contract to use a signature bat made by Sykes. .



      The cricket bat blade is embossed with ‘Slazenger London’ on each shoulder. The distinctive ‘Slazenger London’ is embossed and still clearly visible despite the bat's age. The handle has a rubber grip.

      Stunning polished vintage finish on antique English willow. Wonderful condition given its age. This is a full-sized professional class cricket bat. You could still play with this bat but it would also make a perfect wall display, or you could show it in a frame or display case.
