With a Test career spanning more than twenty years Colin Cowdrey is one of England's finest cricketing sons. From a precocious teenage phenomenon to one of the great sporting statesmen of his time, he was at the heart of the game for half a century: Cowdrey was the first man to play 100 Tests, captained England 27 times and scored almost 43,000 first-class runs – 7,624 of them in Test matches.
Vintage Sports.com is delighted to offer this rare willow cricket bat by Slazenger of England. This bat was made in Harrow, North London. However, Slanzenger were known to outsource some of their manufacturing to other specialized cricketing craftsmen such as Warsop of Chelsmford. This mid-20th century antique cricket bat is in excellent condition with a lovely patina and would look wonderful framed or exhibited on a wall or shelf.
The Bat was sold by Pope & Smith of Chelsmford, Essex. This store has been in business since 1931 when Dudley Pope, who played cricket for Essex, formed a partnership with Peter Smith of England and Essex.
