Located in Los Angeles, it seemed for a while that the Kings would be unable to gain traction, as the California hockey market had not been proved. This all changed in 1988 when the Kings traded for Wayne Gretzky. With Gretzky, and fellow Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, the Kings appeared in the franchises first Stanley Cup in 1993. The Kings broke their Stanley Cup drought in the 2011 season which they followed up with another win in 2013. The Kings paved the way for fellow California teams the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks proving that Hockey could be popular in a west coast market. This Official Kings T-Shirt is 1980s-90s authentic and was acquired by Vintage Sports in 2018. This new old stock item was made in the USA and shipped to Europe approximately 35 years ago to be sold at the military Post Exchange in Mannheim, Germany. The Post Exchange is normally located on US military bases throughout the world and meant to provide US products to American troops. After the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, the US military emphasis began to shift away from Germany to the Balkans. The garrison at Mannheim, once one of the largest in Europe is now mostly a ghost town.
