The 70s were a hit or miss decade for the Wolves of A.S. Roma. The squad brought home a win at the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1972, but throughout much of the period, they were unable to find themselves in league contention.
The squad of the 1974-1975 season, however, was a light in this dark time for Roma fans. The giallorossi set themselves apart this year mainly due to a strong defense, a brilliant midfield (including Giancarlo De Sisti's first season back from Florence), and a high producing year from forward Pierino Prati. Prati would lead the team with 14 A series goals and 22 goals in all competition. These efforts would lead the Wolves to a third place finish behind Juventus and Napoli - being just 4 points back off the lead.
