In 1939, the Mercedes-Benz W154 was producing 475 horsepower and reaching top speeds of 190 MPH. It took some courage to drive this ‘rocket’. The W154 was raced primarily by Silver Arrows’ German drivers Rudolf Caracciola, Manfred von Brauchitsch , Hermann Lang and British Driver Richard Seaman. Mercedes built only 16 W154’s. They began building them in 1938 when they won the prestigious French and Grand Prix and with a stunning 1,2,3 on the podium in Reims. Pictured driving the car in this stunning photograph is, we believe, Hermann Lang.
