It's difficult to define Paul Gascoigne's career. On the one hand, he was absolutely incredible. Described as "the most naturally gifted English midfielder of his generation" Gazza was magical to watch. His dribbling, passing, and penchant for spectacular goals meant that at any moment he could produce some magical feat that you wouldn't dare risk missing.
Winner of awards like the PFA player of the year and PFA Team of the Year, Gazza was dominant for periods during his career. He helped England to a fourth-place finish in the 1990 World Cup and Tottenham to a FA Cup win in 1991. Unfortunately, alcoholism plagued the latter stages of his career and post-player life. Still, when you think of Gazza you think of the incredible goals like that volley for England where he flicked the ball over Colin Hendry's head and smashed it home.
