On April 26th 1969, Manchester City and Leicester City arrived at Wembley stadium to battle for the FA cup. The anticipation rose as 100,000 fans filled the stands around the pitch. Having already claimed the League title, Manchester City was the favorite to win, and they came out that day to show the world that the year of 1969 was theirs for the taking. While both teams played fiercely, neither was able to pierce the other's defense. Midway through the first half, however, Neil Young scored for Manchester City: putting the only goal on the scoresheet for the entire match. Leicester City continued to attack but could not break the defense of Manchester United. The coveted cup was awarded to Manchester City, making it their fourth FA Cup win. On the heels of victory, Manchester City went on win the European Winners’ Cup writing the names of the players to take them there into City history.
