1966 is a year that will forever live in the memories of English soccer fans. On this year, the World Cup would be hosted on English soil, and the stage was set for England to show the world what it was made of. Captained by the legendary Bobby Moore, the squad entered into a tough preliminary round. Fighting through the preliminary round, England would go on to best Argentina and Portugal in gripping matches with Bobby Charlton making international news after outdoing Eusebio on the score sheet.
This all led down to the most famous day in English football history. With West Germany up early in the first half, a player by the name of Geoff Hurst who had won his spot after his play against Portugal found the back of the net. This feat would become seemingly natural for Hurst as he went on to score the only hattrick ever in a World Cup final. His success, however, was only achieved with the help of teammates like Bobby Charlton, Gordon Banks, Nobby Stiles, Jimmy Greaves, and the rest of the 66’ squad.
