The Detroit Stars were formed in 1919 by non-other than the future Hall of Fame executive Rube Foster. Once Foster founded the Negro National League a year later, The Detroit Stars became one of their eight charter teams. Hall of Famers that played for the Stars include Norman "Turkey" Stearnes, Ray Dandridge, Andy Cooper, Pete Hill, and Cristobal Torriente.
