The Detroit Lions are the only team to which has operated during all seasons in the Super Bowl Era not to have made a Super Bowl. Despite their lack of post-season triumph, the Lions have still managed to produce some legendary Hall of Famers including Lem Barney, Dick "Night Train" Lane, and the great Barry Sanders. Sanders 10 years on the Lions constitute what is possibly the most dominant 10-year stretch in the League's history. The Lions had 2 playoff appearances in the early 1980s followed by 6 in the 1990s. In more recent years, the Franchise has played home to the likes of Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Reggie Bush, and Golden Tate.
This Official Lions Pullover/Sweater is 1980s-90s authentic and was acquired by Vintage Sports in 2018. This new old stock item was made in the USA and shipped to Europe approximately 35 years ago to be sold at the military Post Exchange in Mannheim, Germany. The Post Exchange is normally located on US military bases throughout the world and meant to provide US products to American troops. After the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, the US military emphasis began to shift away from Germany to the Balkans. The garrison at Mannheim, once one of the largest in Europe is now mostly a ghost town.
In 1957 Garan was incorporated as a merger of seven companies. After they decided to go public in 1961 they began to distribute clothing bearing the designs of professional sports teams in 1975.
