This wonderful photograph of Brooklyn Tip Tops' Steve Evans was shot in 1909 in New York City.
History will remember Steve Evans for his unconventional approach to getting on base. Born in February 17, 1885, Evans played in the league from 1908 to 1915. His batting style saw him lead the National League in hit by pitch bases each year from 1910 to 1912. This included a single season record of 31 that was not broken for 61 years and a record for being hit 3 times in a single game.
