This beautiful vintage sports image comes to us from LIFE’s historical archive. This image is digitally printed on archival photographic paper that is suitable for in-home, office, museum or gallery display. Taken by Gjon Mili, (American, 1904–1984) best known for his work published in LIFE, this image captures a dramatic moment in a game that went to double overtime. This was only the second time that St John’s had won the National Invitation Tournament. St John’s is a four-time winner of the competition which was established at Madison Square Garden in 1938. Collectors and fans of Basketball will admire this captivating image of St John’s 76-71 NIT victory over Bradley at the MSG on March 21, 1959.
