Playing their home games at the historic Rickwood Field, the Birmingham Black Barons were in operation from 1920 to 1960. From 1940 to 1960, the team played in the Negro American League. All-in-all, the team won back-to-back league titles in 1943 and 1944, and a third in 1948. They lost the Negro League World Series to the legendary Homestead Gray.
