There are few area of sports history that have experienced victory like the Detroit Olympia. Unyielding and steadfast, “The Old Red Barn” once shaped Detroit’s identity. Through cheering on the NHL Red Wings as they won the Stanley Cup during their first season or watching Joe Louis fight at the beginning of his career, the stadium united the people of Detroit. Eventually the stadium was set to be demolished in 1987 but did not give up without a fight. The Old Red Barn was so strong that it failed to implode but had to slowly be torn apart.
The city of Detroit will never forget the memories made in the Olympia. Relive the celebration of the past as you help honor the legacy of Detroit with these cuff links made from the old Olympia seats. Due to its demolition three decades ago, these cuff links are one of the only lasting tokens to the past of the Red Wings, then known as the Detroit Cougars. Set in sterling silver with swivel findings, each pair is engraved on the back with "Detroit Olympia."
