In the first half of the twentieth century, the Clemson Tigers baseball team finished with a winning record roughly half of the time. Some years were terrific, but many years were awful. Then, in 1958, the Tigers began a streak of winning seasons that has yet to be broken. What caused such a marked change?
Enter legendary Coach Bill Wilhelm. A former minor league player, Wilhelm would go on to coach at Clemson for thirty-six years. That is over 13,000 days as the Tigers' head coach, and every single season ended with a winning record. They won eleven Atlantic Coast Conferences Championships during Wilhelm's tenure and earned six trips to the College World Series.
This cap is a nod to the loyalty and sustained success of Bill Wilhelm's Tigers. If you have an affinity for dynasties, this one is for you.
